Mrs. Bruce from Marietta GA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these hands on math games, bean bags, and stamps in order to have materials to work on during math centers time.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Kindergarten students come to school with little exposure to numbers and how they work. They need these materials in order to be able to explore numbers and patterns in innovative ways.
My students come from low income backgrounds and do not have many people making sure their needs are met.
They are eager to learn and want to please their teacher in many ways. They are diverse in their background and they have many needs that go beyond the scope of the normal everyday classroom. They are also very young and new to school and I want to make sure their initial exposure to math is that of a positive nature.
Materials like Match the Number Counting Kit, Count and Link, and the Numbers Bean Bag Set will provide my students many opportunities to solve math problems and learn about numbers in different ways. They will be able to learn cooperative skills and work together with their classmates while working hands on with various materials that promote math literacy and number sense. These materials will allow the students to learn in a fun and innovative way that they would not normally get to do with regular paper and pencil activities. Their lives will be impacted positively with the use of hands on activities that teach math skills vital to further studies.
This donation would make a lasting positive impact on my students and their math literacy.
They will be positively affected by the use of these materials and will be able to translate their learning into all other subject areas and in future grades. They will be able to see abstract math concepts in a more interesting and concrete way.
