My Students

I work in a community where education is valued by students and parents. There is a desire to learn, grow and expand beyond their generalized demographic.

It is such a joy to be in a community where parents are asking teachers what they can do to assist the learning at home.

Our school and the district are advancing on the grading scale from the Department of Education and it is because of the help of the community around us, we are able to continue to grow.

My Project

Many students can understand audio information that they are unable to consume and comprehend in text form. Using headphones on laptops allows students to have books read to them, provides students with an opportunity to hear proper pronunciation, inflection and tone that they might miss when reading from a story printed on paper. Students also have the ability to explore podcasts, videos and audio books on a variety of subjects in all content areas.

By creating a classroom environment that utilizes technology in ways to bring the entire world into our classroom, our teachers and students are provided with unlimited avenues to explore and expand their learning.

Additionally, as a generation of technology loving students, we find that the students are engaged with their interests and have an increase in student involvement in the classroom.

The Sony headphones will increase my students' understanding of reading fluency, reading comprehension and open up avenues to expanded learning through visual media such as videos, podcasts and audio books on a variety of subjects.
