The students in my school come from low-income households where their educational needs continue to grow during these uncertain educational times. As we move forward with remote learning and a hybrid model for instructing our students, I’d like to give our learners the best resources in order for them to grow their knowledge and stay engaged whether they are in or outside the classroom.
My Project
VersaTiles hand2mind resources promote independent practice for young learners. They are great for use in small groups, rotations, centers, and stations. VersaTiles help students seamlessly integrate literacy skills practice into their daily reading routine.
Literacy skills implemented when using this classroom kit promotes student growth in phonics and fluency, language conventions, vocabulary, and comprehension skills using informational texts.
When students focus on these skills, they increase their overall reading fluency and text comprehension.
This resource allows students to effectively participate in the “I do” model of teaching. This is the most important part of the teaching model because students are working as independent learners to grow their brains! Students use hands-on skills practice with a self-checking answer system as a way to monitor their own progress independently. This promotes self-confidence and success as well as a fun way to learn. The materials included in this literacy kit can be used within the classroom or for remote learning making this kit a diverse, unique teaching resource for young minds.
