I teach art at an urban preschool of approximately 450 students. These students are enthusiastic learners, always ready to dive into new media! My goal is to provide students with diverse artistic experiences in the two years they spend at our school.
In our art classes, the students' artwork is process oriented and self-driven, with their own imaginations lighting the way.
These students are excited to play with color, shape, movement, and imagery. Getting to know a new art supply is like making a new friend. Sharing the work they create is one of the best parts of my job.
My Project
I'm reaching out beyond the walls of the school in search of support for purchasing art supplies. I aim to get as many different types in the hands of my students to ensure their experience in art class is a broad and diverse one. For the past two years, the financial support given to the art budget, and most budgets in general, has been exceptionally low.
My students deserve to see more than crayons and printer paper as they explore the world of artistic expression, from basic mark-making all the way to meaning-making.
This shopping list will provide brushes, colored pencils, pastels, and 2 types of clay!
