My students are intelligent and kind. They always look forward to visiting me in the library. They often stop me in the hallway and excitedly tell me about a book they are reading or that it's their library day and they remembered their book. I try to make their library visit a fun and relaxing time. With so many standards to be met in the classroom, sometimes these little guys need a way to relax (and not realize they are still learning.)
My Project
The materials in the Breakout Edu kit will challenge students to use open ended thinking and challenge them to solve puzzles, crack codes and unlock the box. Students will collaborate in groups. Often standards are based on set facts and specific information. They labor over this information in their classrooms. In the media center, I want students to solve problems on their own. Students need to be aware that there are often more than one correct solution. In the real world we often work on teams and need the ability to communicate with each other to solve a common goal. This item will help me promote collaboration and creative thinking.
