Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom of 23 students, about half of whom receive special education services. Our students are eager to learn and need the resources in order to be successful in their studies!
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with most of our students receiving free lunch.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them for the rest of the day!
My Project
An assortmant of audio books will give my students who read below grade level access to the same rich literature as their peers, allowing them to fall in love with the same great books! Expanding our listening center will really help our class build their reading levels. It will foster critical thinking skills and engage my students to books that are on their grade level, which they can not read on their own.
We have a fantastic group of students in our classroom who love reading and are committed to learning!
But because many of them have learning disabilities, reading can be very challenging. With books on tape for our listening center in the classroom, I am able to give small group instruction to half of the class while the other half engages in literature independently for future discussion.
