Help me give my students books that they are specifically asking for. The kids spent time thinking of books that they are interested in. The books will foster a love for reading and will expand their worlds!!
My classroom consists of 30 thoughtful and intelligent eight and nine year old boys and girls! The students come from a variety of homes with many different backgrounds and many different experiences. Our classroom has students that read at many different levels, with many different interests. As 3rd graders we spend a lot of time reading to self as we work to build our reading stamina. The kids are always asking for new books; I work hard to provide them with a good selection of authors, series, and genres when it comes to our classroom library.
A strong classroom library is an important thing to have when it comes to creating a love for reading in these young kids!!
My group of students also has many different interests, which means we are in need of many different books. Please consider helping support a love for learning and reading for these young children!!
My Project
In 3rd grade students really take off on independent reading!! I have been working hard to foster a love and interest in reading for each individual student. I have purchased a great deal of new books for the classroom, but the kids are whipping right through them!! I had the class sit and think of books they loved, or authors they loved and I had them compile a list of books that they would love to read.
All of the books in the cart are books that the 30 little readers in my class have chosen as books of high interest.
By reading books of high interest they can improve their reading skills, which will improve their education as a whole!! I cannot wait to fill our shelves with books the kids cannot wait to read!!
