Exercise Your Brain on an Exercise Ball!
My students need ten stability balls for the classroom to use as chairs.
"Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for the opera or for meditating, but in most classrooms and child care centers, it's given far more honor than it deserves. Children need to move." ~Tom Hunter, National Association for the Education of Young Children.
My classroom is part of a school that has many needs, both physically and emotionally.
We are a Title 1 school full of students with a desire to learn, but not enough support at home to transfer that learning outside of the classroom. We are trying to instill them with the skills to make that transfer on their own.
These students need to get the blood flowing in their brain, which helps brain function. They need to get their wiggles out each day so that their focus remains on learning. Stability balls build core strength which is lacking in a lot of children in this present day technological world. The stability balls will help to reach each of these goals that I have as an educator.
Included in my classroom is a child with ASD and a child with Down Syndrome.
While I know the stability balls will help these students stay focused to learn, I also know that the other students in my classroom need this same intervention to assure their learning and focus as well.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
