Help me give my students some indoor gross motor resources to use when we cannot get outside to play. I am requesting a mini trampoline, a mini bowling set, balance board, foam hopscotch board and ring toss game.
Do you remember when you were 4 years old? All you wanted to do was jump, bounce, hop, and run; so do my students. They come to school with so much energy waiting to be released. My students are 4 year olds who need to play even when they cannot go outside. Many of them watch You Tube videos and tv when they are home. Many of them do not play outside and do not physically play inside. They are very creative with a great big imagination. They love to come to school to socially and physically interact with their friends and adults. We are a school community.
My students look forward to coming to school to physically play and move.
Their faces light up when it is time to play outside but when we are unable to go outside they are very sad. I try my best with what we have in the classroom to physically get them to move and play, but after a while I can see they get bored.
My Project
Working on gross motor skills helps a child gain strength and confidence in his/her body. It also helps them get exercise and physical activity, which is important for a healthy lifestyle. Developing these skills helps a child's ability to do more complex skills in the future.
By donating to our project, you would not only be helping a child gain physical strength, but also imagination, intelligence and language.
Indoor play for a preschooler is fun and an adventure when outside play is not possible. The gross motor equipment will be used in our classroom when the conditions to go outside are not appropriate. The equipment will be stored in a pre-k storage closet. Children will play bowling, hopscotch, ring toss, balancing, and bouncing. We currently do not have any indoor equipment so donating to our project would greatly be appreciated.
