This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach/coach in a high poverty school. 100% of the students receive free lunch. My students are very motivated by being successful in the classroom and on the football field. I want to make sure my student athletes have the best chance to succeed by having everything they need to be successful in the classroom and on the field. I have great expectations for my students and believe that they have no limits to what they can achieve in life.

My Project

I have recently became the Head Football coach at D. HS a urban school in Oklahoma. While accepting the job I noticed that the football teams weight and locker room facilities were lacking in vision and functionality. After touring the facilities I found a 3000 sq ft auto mechanic room that had not been used for 7 years and had become a dumping ground for junk. So after some begging we were given this area. The coaches and I have spent the last 3 months cleaning, moving, throwing away, painting, and preparing to make this our weight/locker/meeting facility.

All that is left is a safe non slip floor.
