My students need basketballs, hula hoops with storage bags, bean bags, jump ropes (for my little ones), and batting tees to have a better physical education experience.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember as a kid playing with hula hoops with your friends? Hula hoops are great exercise. Who doesn't love playing basketball and hitting balls. Oh and throwing things at targets... Loads of fun.
I work in an inner city school with not much outside play area.
We rarely go outside to play, and I want to teach the students how to exercise inside. This way they can get the whole family exercising together. We have students who live with grandparents or other family members other than their mothers or fathers. Exercising can teach them to help keep their family members active.
My Project
Hula hoops can be used for many things besides putting it on your waist, spinning it or walking the dog. We use them for targets to throw thing in such as bean bags. Bean bags are a great way for the younger students to learn to throw at targets and catch. I have some very small student and the jump ropes we have are just too long for them. The 6' ropes will be so much easier for them to handle. Basketballs are a must in every gym. As our school has grown so have my class sizes and always need more. Last year we only had one old batting tee and it didn't last the whole year. The students love learning to bat and this is one of the best ways to do so.
Donations to this project will help over 550 students in my school get on the right road to do their part to fight childhood obesity.
With your help we can get our students on the right track to start their own fitness program. Students will benefit from this program for many years to come. Teaching the students the importance of staying in shape is the key to their future. Help me help them get on the right road to happier healthier lives.
