My students come to school energized and motivated even when dealing with their day-to-day struggles at home and in their communities. As kids, they should not have to deal with the issues they face daily and at their tender ages. They come from struggling backgrounds and also have a variety of disabilities. They struggle with their emotions, social skills, and daily lives. Like all kids, they need love and support. They need encouragement and to be motivated. Given all the issues in their lives, my students are great, loving, and caring students. They look out for each other, and they work hard in the classroom.
As a Title I school with more than 75% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, they already feel as if they are at a disadvantage, especially coupled with their learning disabilities.
They work hard to accept new challenges daily and at completing each task. They are eager to learn, but they need as many learning tools as possible. Given the educational resources, my students will continue to make significant improvements in learning and daily life skills.
My Project
Exercise is an essential role in cognition by focusing on posture, and by fixing my students’ posture in class we can go a long way to improving their comfort and therefore concentration. Good posture means the body is relaxed because the muscles are not straining to stay upright. When we adopt a good posture the vertebrae are stacked neatly on top of one another, so the spine is not straining to stay aligned.
An incorrect seated posture can quickly lead to fatigue, neck and back strains and consequently a decline in focus and comfort.
This is why it is so important to build a stable core in students that are increasingly less and less active outside and more active at a computer or on a phone. The development of core muscles in students will not only aid in the physical development and health of students, but it will improve on students much needed improved posture. This will lead to better attention, less back pain, and headaches, and an overall improvement in their future health. For special needs students, the development of proper health regiments and core strength is important to a longer life span outside of the classroom, far-reaching the just the academic growth of my students.
STEALTH is the world’s first interactive core trainer with Gameplay Technology, which means that you are cleverly led through a dynamic core workout while playing a game of capturing targets and scoring points. The result is a more challenging core workout than the static plank, while your attention is focused on gameplay.
