Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are highly motivated, creative, and curious. They are involved in many activities that our beautiful school has to offer including Garden Club, Robotics, Photography, Speech Contest, Soccer and Basketball Teams, and more. They are motivated by hands on projects, peer collaboration, STEM, technology, and anything engaging that catches their eye.
Our diverse school is home to many military families, and it is amazing to hear their life stories from moving time after time while serving our country.
We also have many bilingual students, some of whom are enrolled in our successful Dual Immersion program. Since this school opened five years ago, students from around the community have come together to form new friendships. Our students arrive to school eager to learn and should be provided with the necessary tools to become lifelong learners.
My Project
The PE equipment in our classroom has lasted many years and some are in better condition than others. It is time to finally replace the broken and missing equipment so students can have the tools to be successful.
If you witnessed last year's staff vs.
students kickball game at our school site, you would agree that the adults are the ones who need to brush up on their skills. However, the students are the ones who will benefit from this project's donations. If funded, we will be able to have enough kickballs to practice drills in small groups to allow more students to be active.
When students participate in PE, not only are they getting exercise for their bodies, the increased blood flow also helps improve attention and enhances brain activity. We know that having students participate in physical activity is beneficial, but now we need the resources to keep them engaged and active.
