Each day I am absolutely amazed by the thought-provoking, engaged, independent learners in my classroom. We are a small class of 21 kiddos who love learning and constantly seek opportunities to become better students by creating personal and academic goals. They are reflective, creative, and friendly children who are truly a blessing to teach.
The students in my classroom absolutely thrive in a creative but structured classroom environment.
Earlier in December, the third grade team attended a professional development from Rush University's Medical Center's Neurobehavioral Unit where we received a new curriculum to address some executive functioning needs within our classroom. Rather than waiting until the following year to implement this new curriculum, we've decided to start this curriculum mid-year so our current students can benefit from this program.
My Project
Executive Functions are cognitive processes that allow people to plan, organize, make decisions, pay attention, and regulate behavior. All of us use Executive Function skills to solve problems and evaluate the decisions we make. Research suggests that Executive Function skills are essential for students to succeed in school and adults to succeed in later life.
