Help me give my students access to analog watches that they can wear in order to help them learn how to tell time more effectively. I also have one student who needs flexible seating.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Even though many of my students attend a school within a low income, high poverty area, they are always wanting to learn and grow. Each of my students has some type of learning disability where information must be accommodated in order for them to do their best when learning. In order to reach them and help them to retain the information that is taught, I have found that it’s important to use a variety of hands-on resources. I want to give each of my students the best chance of growing and learning through using these resources with them in the classroom.
My Project
One of the hardest lessons I teach my students is how to tell time. In order to do this more effectively, it helps if they have a watch or clock with them at all times.
I hear all day during resource time, "What time is it?".
In order to help them learn to tell time on a daily basis, they need a watch where they can practice this skill numerous times throughout the day. Not only because it is a standard they are suppose to know, but because it is a daily skill that they will need as they get older.
I also currently have a student that due to his disability he needs to have alternative seating and a beanbag chair would help him during the day to accomplish this.
