My Students
Do you remember what it was like as a child not having needed tools that would assist you with writing? My students are experiencing daily obstacles that are hindering them from creating the perfect writing sample. Having the right tools will keep them excuse free. Can you help?
I teach Special Education in an urban setting.
My students are energetic and desire a quest for knowledge. Our school is small and we do not have much community support. The school receives funding from Title I and the free lunch program. But with recent budget cuts, we are unable to get writing tools that will assist with weekly writing prompts and assignments.
My Project
It is hard to teach students the writing process when you do not have the necessary equipment. Well, my students would benefit from having a working pencil sharpener, writing clipboards, colored pencils and dry erase makers with dry erase board cleaners. They will utilize the writing tools to create the perfect writing sample. The clipboards will give flexibility of inside/outside informal classroom environment space. The dry erase markers will allow students to practice writing mechanic skills using individual dry erase boards that we already have in their learning environment.
