My Students
My students from Panama City are part of a unique experience at our school. We are in the second year of opening our charter school. We are the only Title I charter school in our district. My students come from various backgrounds and cultures. They are inquisitive, creative, funny and interesting.
Another uniqueness is that I have looped with my eighteen fourth graders and have added eight new fifth graders to our classroom this year.
Since Hurricane Michael, we have had to combine all of our classes into one class, where we now co-teach.
Our students enjoy making choices about their learning and their learning environment. We are working hard on creating a caring culture.
My Project
These materials will allow my students to become engaged in literature that is meaningful to them. Students connect with Diary of the Wimpy Kid books in a huge way.
Using the Who Was books will bring my reader's attention to important and exciting people in history and those relevant in today's world.
Students can use the author study books to engage in literature circles. They can engage in meaning conversations with other peers about the books they read and ask specific questions regarding the stories. Furthermore, they can learn more about how an author writes by comparing and contrasting books by the same author.
