I teach 2nd grade in American Canyon, California. In order to teach my second graders how to read, I need to be able to pull them in small groups so that I can work on their individual needs. This is where the magic of teaching happens. Finding exciting educational activities for the rest of the class can be a huge challenge. That is where Instant Literacy centers come in. These centers are exciting and interactive. The students can use foam letters to build words, roll word dice to make sentences and use spinners to write exciting paragraphs. These centers allow the students to be actively engaged in learning while I work with individuals on their specific needs. These centers would allow me to do more teaching and less busy work.
