My Students

This quote supports the need of technology in the classroom, and by having mini iPads it allows the students to work independently.
I have a group of students who are eager to become readers and mathematicians in my classroom!
Kindergarten students are motivated extrinsically rather than intrinsically, so I am always trying to find new ways to motivate my students to work independently. They tend to struggle with small group time because they need constant redirection - especially in the beginning of the school year.
My school is a public charter school and does not get the funding for supplies that other public schools receive. Teachers in my school are in charge of funding any extra materials aside from the typical school tools.
My Project
The mini iPads will be used throughout my instructional school day. During my Free Choice time (which is an academic based play time) my students will be able to work independently with the iPads to improve reading/math skills.
In addition to this, my students will be able to use the mini iPads during small group time when I am instructing reading groups.
Lastly, the students will be able to earn special time playing on the mini iPads for good behavior.
The mini iPads will encourage my students to work independently.
It will encourage learning in Reading & Math through educationally based games. The mini iPads will also allow students to use their technology skills from home and to incorporate that into my classroom.
