In my classroom, I have 24, wonderful, 3rd grade students who are trying their very best to navigate through the constant changes of our world today. My students show up every day excited to learn and ready to try their best. I love watching my students be excited to learn, whether it is reading a new book or working out a new problem in math.
From building a strong classroom community at the start of the year, I know my students need movement and strong literacy throughout the day.
We are in a low-income/high-poverty school district, and many of my students face challenges outside of school. We strive to make school an enjoyable experience where all the students feel safe, welcomed, and engaged. My students are fearless when it comes to using new technology and always need new ways to be involved in the classroom.
My Project
Help me get my kids excited and engaged in books! My students are always excited when someone returns a copy of Dog Man or Bad Guys to the classroom library because I currently do not have enough copies for the amount of students that always want to be reading them.
Adding these graphic novels to my classroom library is the perfect way for all students in my classroom to find reading fun and enjoyable.
Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is perfect way to build better readers. When the students are done reading these books, they can return them to the library, read new ones and talk about the books with friends in the class who have already read them!
