Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school located on the West side of Chicago. Although the students experience many challenges living in a high-crime, low-income neighborhood, they walk through our doors where they experience a sense of belonging in welcoming and safe classroom communities. My classroom is filled with 24 five and six year olds who are eager to learn. Within my kindergarten classroom the needs of the students vary drastically. To best meet the needs of my learners it is important to provide students with differentiated instruction/activities that are engaging and exciting.
My hope is to foster the students' curiosities and love for learning.
My Project
A color printer would be a wonderful addition to my classroom as I would be able to print teacher-created resources in color as opposed to black & white. The teacher-created resources used in my classroom allow for differentiation during independent, partner, and small group activities. Having access to the resources printed in color versus black & white provides the students with more visually engaging and fun material. A color printer would also enable me to print pictures that capture the students' learning experiences as well as other resources to assist in creating a print-rich learning environment for the students. In addition to a color printer with ink, I am asking for laminating sheets. The laminating sheets will help insure the longevity of the activities and games that have been created.
