Our students are enthusiastic readers and crave new and different literary genres. They, in fact read more than 30,000 minutes in January and February. As a result they achieved great success in the Mayor's reading challenge surpassing many other schools in the district. I would like to recognize and encourage that energy by purchasing books that they can read for their Spring Break and into the summer. This would be a great surprise for them and again encourage more reading.
My Project
Our student crave literature of all sorts. They love the diverse books that we provide in the library and always look for new and fun books to read. This project will will help support their love of reading and ensure that they have these NEW books to read as they approach Spring break and summer. It has been demonstrated that the more students read, the less intellectual development is lost over vacations. We want to provide them with all the books that they need not only to survive but to thrive in their reading habits. Spring and summer will be filled with reading, thanks to this project.
