I have worked with our school for 14 years. Our school is in what used to be a small town, with more than 40% free and reduced lunch. I love our class of talented, unique, kind, loving, creative, intelligent students. My teammate and I share approximately 60 students, part of our students have individualized educations plans (inclusion and pull-out).
I want to build relationships and build a love for learning in our classroom.
Students should feel safe and excited to learn. Creating opportunities for students to be successful learning, while having fun and getting excited about learning is key. Creating classroom 'transformations" where we give students a new and exciting "classroom" to learn using connections such as camping while reading, structure "surgery", and a special glow day for review creates a fun experience for students and a helps to build relationships.
My Project
The classroom transformation materials I am requesting for my students will be put to great use for super engaging lessons. These items will help me to create various classroom transformations including glow day, "surgery day" for text structure, camp reading, and a "snow" decorated room for different units we will be studying including Snowflake Bentley and the Iditarod. Each of the items will be used in a specific transformation with some of them being used across transformations.
The camping materials will transform our room into a "camp read along" theme - we will use this for two different classroom transformations.
The glow materials will be used for a review set station prior to our end of quarter assessments (which will be used each quarter). I am excited!!
