Help me give my students the necessary and appropriate resources needed to be successful in the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Despite the personal obstacles that are beyond their control, my first grade scholars come to school ready to learn. Attending a 100% free/reduced-price lunch school is a blessing for my scholars because they have an opportunity to eat breakfast and have lunch. Family dynamics and circumstances prohibit many of my scholars from having a stable and consistent home life. Most recently, I have been informed that this fall my classroom will be blessed with exceptional learners (LD, ADHD, Autistic). This is so exciting as it is my goal to give all of my students a consistent routine when they are in my classroom.
Focus on academic learning is key for ALL of my scholars and having the appropriate resources in the classroom will help them to be successful.
We are limited in funds necessary to supply these children with basic school supplies, let alone what will help enhance what resources we do have. It is my hope that I will be blessed in a way that I will not have any out of pocket expenses. As I am very dedicated, I can make a way out of no way because it is all about the scholars.
This project came to light when I was informed that my classroom would be part of an extraordinary program. My classroom environment will now consist of students with special needs. I shy away from the word 'special' and like to refer to my new incoming students as 'exceptional'. These scholars need appropriate resources to make them feel welcome and included as they embark on entering a general education environment. The flexible seating will help those that need an alternative to regular seating. Those students with sensory needs can work with the foam letter and number activities to help increase learning during ELA and Math. Fine motor skills can be perfected using play dough and the tools.
Ultimately, these resources will contribute to the success in my 'exceptional' learners' experience which will give them the learning opportunity that they deserve.
Please help me help my 'exceptional' scholars' dreams come true with funding these resources.
