This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am an Exceptional Children's Resource teacher in a high poverty elementary school. I teach children from grades kindergarten through 5th grade with special needs mostly with learning disabilities.
The obstacle that I sometimes face in my classroom is that a majority of my students are not only diagnosed with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Emotionally Disabled, and behavior problems, but many of them also have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder (ADHD). It is extremely difficult at times to keep the focus of my students when I'm teaching. Bringing my classroom to 21st century technology can only benefit the learning environment and capabilities of my students.
With an Elmo projector camera I will be able to display anything that I'm working on to a big screen that will engage my students in the task on hand. Projecting student classwork, articles from newspapers, textbooks and books for reading will enable me to keep my students on task and their attention on what I am teaching.
"ALL" my students are EXCEPTIONAL learners!!!I believe that even though my students come from poverty stricken homes, they deserve to receive the same quality of education as all other students. Your help in funding this device will be very much appreciated and you will make a difference in a students life far more than you ever could imagine.
