I teach special education in a Title I school. My students are amazing, and they are truly inspiring. We treat every day as a fresh start. The school I work for is incredible and has a passion for the students.
Every single one of my students is unique and has exceptional educational needs.
My students are 10-15-years-old with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments. My classroom is a self-contained moderately intellectually disabled class. Most of my students spend 6+ hours a day in my classroom. We work on everything from life skills to academic achievement.
My Project
We use markers, color pencils, folders, and writing paper every day in our classroom to solve math problems, word work, correct grammar, and to complete book projects. We use these tools to provide our students with the opportunity to combine different content areas with art. Since most of my students are economically disadvantaged, they did not bring in supplies at the start of the school year.
Combining art with Math and ELA makes our activities more engaging and enhances student learning.
We purchased new supplies for students who did not come with them at the beginning of the year. Now, in the middle of the school year, we are in need of new markers (since most have dried up from use), color pencils, writing paper, and new folders.
