Help me give my students the motivation to achieve perfect attendance. Motivational tools include several varieties of Mexican candy and a large pull string pinata.

My name is Celina Bondie and I teach at a high school. My students are over 90% low income and come from predominantly Hispanic and Latino backgrounds. They are incredibly dedicated and intelligent individuals. They are motivated to further their own learning and they are determined to come to school everyday to become global citizens. I have students that participate in extracurriculars such as cheerleading, robotics club, printmaking, and music. They are driven to be successful and to give back to their communities. Sometimes we struggle with attendance when the seasons begin to change and they become overworked and overwhelmed with their school work and classes. Otherwise, these are some of the most wonderful individuals you will ever have a chance to meet.
My students in my homeroom are striving for 90% or better attendance everyday. They have stated that if they received positive motivation they would be more excited about coming to school everyday. When I asked them what they would like, they mentioned that they love Mexican candy. So together we developed the idea that if the entire class came to school everyday, I would put one piece of candy in a pinata for every student in the classroom. I have eleven students and so far their attendance has been 100% perfect for three days in a row and they have earned 33 pieces of candy. I would like to continue to motivate them to come to school and they are looking forward to our Exceptional Attendance Pinata Candy Celebration at the end of the first semester.
