This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my first year working with middle school aged children. When I first started teaching middle school, I was scared and nervous, but also determined. Each child has been different but they all share the same interest; an education.
The majority of my students are from low income households, or broken homes.
This has resulted in them not being able to afford a lot of the things that they need to succeed. As a mother and a teacher, I would love to pick up the slack where my students are lacking. Letting my students know that we are on the same team encourages them to work even harder.
I believe that students cope better and do better once they believe they have the support from their teachers. My goal has and will always be to help every child succeed, regardless of how difficult the road may seem.
My Project
A lot of my students focus better by listening, rather than reading. My students have the option to read stories or listen to the audiobooks. Since every child reads and listens at a different pace, I would love your help to provide my students with headphones!
These headphones will give each student more control of the pace that they read, as well as the freedom to listen to the same material over again without holding the rest of the class behind.
Being able to work at their own pace will help students to become more relaxed which will result in each child grasping a better understanding of their assignments.
