Mrs. Hatcher from Macon GA is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a rug, crayons, markers, pencils and other basic classroom supplies. Because our class is an Access Class, we utilize supplies much more quickly than other classroom settings.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students consist of sweet, fantastic, clever, and busy 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with several disabilities. The students have different types of learning disabilities with difficulties in writing, reading, math, attention, and dyslexia. The students in my class have special needs; however, they are super smart and creative in so many ways. They come from all walks of life and share an uniqueness that is breathtaking. They are hard workers and dedicated and persistent students who are determined to destroy all barriers.
These materials will allow students to finish the remaining of the school year strong with the necessary supplies. We need a rug, crayons, markers, pencils and other basic classroom supplies. With this project, our students will be able to work independently utilizing and creating a work portfolio which will be comprised of each student's personal work. The supplies purchased will give each student a chance to have their own portfolio in addition to using laminated class activities. We will use the items in individual and group stations.
We are working hard to improve and create life skills that will help each student in and outside of the classroom.
With the supplies, we are able to make additional visuals which will help throughout their day with visual support. We will also be able to utilize and create additional hands-on manipulatives which will improve critical learning for students in the classroom. With the supplies purchased, not only will our students work be displayed, but more manipulatives and snacks will also be provide to each student daily. Overall, this will change the students' way of thinking from a simple procedural understanding to a more conceptual understanding.
