Excelling Executive Functioning Through Organizational Independence

My students need organized storage units for their table teams to house their learning materials for the day.

My Students

In my classroom, all students are Star Scholars. They are loved unconditionally. Scholars are provided a safe space to take risks, be vulnerable, and develop a sense of childhood curiosity and wonder.

My Scholars are innocent, kindred spirits who deserve so much more than what our society has given them.

For many of my students, their future relies solely on their experiences in our school. Regardless of the unthinkable barriers that my Scholars experiences outside of our four walls, they know that my belief in them never wavers.

My Project

Executive functioning skills help students to plan, organize and complete tasks. These are absolutely necessary skills for success in college and career! In our classroom, I want to start developing these skills in my scholars. One way in which I do this is by creating systems for organization, personalization, and self reflection that build scholars' awareness of their own learning styles and fosters their independence.

These plastic storage containers will house each collaborative table team's learning materials for the day, building their responsibility for organizing and maintaining their resources.

Not only will these towers develop my scholars' executive functioning skills, but they will also significantly cut down on transition times throughout the day, giving us more valuable minutes to focus on learning!
