My Students

Meet my amazing students: young English Language Learners hailing from Puerto Rico, Yemen, Gambia, Senegal, Dominican Republic, Cape Verde, Mali, and Bangladesh. They are strong, compassionate, and hardworking individuals. However, learning a new language is no easy task, especially within our current high stakes academic environment.

The majority of my students live below the poverty line.

They have overcome extreme adversity just to attend school here in the United States. For many of my students, success in school is their greatest hope for a brighter future. And these guys are determined to achieve it, but they could really use YOUR help!

My Project

With access to a color printer, I will be able to print images to enhance lessons and projects. For students who are learning a second language, nothing is more helpful than a really clear image.

Color images not only facilitate understanding, but are more memorable.

When students connect new information to a familiar or evocative image, they are more likely retain and recall that information in the future.

A color printer would allow me to produce exciting pictures to accompany definitions, illustrate examples, enhance stories, and provide context. Your donation will allow me to make my classroom that much brighter.
