Our school is located in Wisconsin, it is the third largest district in Wisconsin. We are a community of diverse learners with a range of academic, social, and economic backgrounds. Our school has recently been identified as a Title 1 school.
In my second grade classroom, we are a tight-knit family.
My students are enthusiastic learners who thrive when being faced with a challenge! Our classroom emphasizes: Respect for self/others, collaborative learning, divergent thinking, teamwork, and differentiated learning. In our classroom- Everyone is LOVED. Everyone is VALUED, and everyone is celebrated for their HARD WORK and PERSEVERANCE.
My Project
Students need to learn at a young age how to organize their materials. It can often get overwhelming for children when organizational systems are not in place.
Children need a place to put their prized possessions when they are at school.
Their special books, school supplies, and daily work all need a place for safe-keeping.
The "Classroom Keepers Mailboxes" would be used daily for students to turn in their homework folders and to hold the papers they are to bring home to their families. The "At-Your-Seats Storage Sacks" would go on the back of their chairs at the reading table to hold their leveled books, daily work, and materials needed for their small group reading and writing instruction with the teacher.
Learning these organizational skills at a young age will help my enthusiastic learners to use their class time productively. These resources will also help to eliminate frustration from students being unable to find the needed materials.
