Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year, I teach 5th grade math! I service all of 5th grade. My students are so eager to learn. They enjoy working together and digging deeper to learn more about a topic.
In our classroom, we do a lot of group work.
We also do a lot of hands-on learning and project-based learning. This means that we research topics and create group projects in order to deepen our knowledge of a topic. They are wonderful children who deserve to have all the materials they need in order to succeed.
My Project
This year I will be servicing the whole 5th grade for Mathematics. Although some students have computers at home there are many students who do not have access to computers because they do not have a permanent homes and are currently in transitional homes. We are moving into an online classroom form. Students need to complete homework and classwork online. I want to be able to provide internet access and a computer for these students to use without them feeling overwhelmed or "left out." I want these students to feel like they have a computer to go to in the classroom to practice math, research for projects and complete digital assignments without fear of falling behind in class.
