Help me give my students a voice with an iPad. Technology is another way to engage students while giving each one the opportunity to access new skills at their own pace. Thank you for helping my students find their voice.
I have a group of curious, enthusiastic, and creative students. For speech-language therapy, I serve all ages but currently focusing on grades 6th through 8th grade. My students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge. They are inquisitive, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside of the box to find solutions. Technology excites them and ignites their desire to dive deeper into learning and self-discovery.
My Project
Technology has become very important in education as well as therapy. The COVID-19 pandemic quickly demonstrated why online education should be a vital part of teaching and learning. By integrating technology into existing curricula and lessons as opposed to using it solely as a crisis-management tool, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and educators can harness online learning as a powerful educational tool. The effective use of digital learning tools in therapy can increase student engagement, help SLPs improve their plans for therapy sessions, and facilitate personalized learning. It also helps students build essential 21st-century skills. Technology such as iPads helps to give nonverbal students a voice. Virtual speech therapy, video, AAC, and other technology tools can not only make therapy sessions more lively, they can also promote academic growth, enhance student interests, create more inclusive learning environments that foster collaboration and inquisitiveness, and enable SLPs to collect data on student performance.
