My students need one rug with 20 individual spots for each of my students so they will have a comfortable place to sit during read alouds and whole group instruction.
Third grade students love to learn, and I love providing them with as many resources as I possibly can through DonorsChoose.org to enhance their education at our school. I teach two classes of third grade students. I teach Language Arts and Social Studies to my first block, and I teach Math and Science to my second block. There are forty diverse students total in my classes. Many of these students receive free or reduced-price lunches. I have been teaching for sixteen years. This is my third year to teach third grade.
My Project
Do you remember sitting at a desk all day when you were in elementary school? Students need to move around throughout the day. This requested rug has 20 individual spots so it will be a great addition to our classroom because it will provide each of my students with a comfortable learning space away from their desks and chairs. The students will sit on the rug during whole group instruction, teacher read alouds, math station time, and "Read to Self" time. When my students sit on our current rug, they complain that they are too close to the other students because the rug is too small. This classroom carpet will give my students an individual, comfortable learning space away from their desks.
