Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from all over the greater Houston area and their families from all over the globe. These students are special in that they're highly motivated and all have the desire to pursue careers in the medical field in the near future. Our campus thrives on diversity and a drive to achieve greatness, which is evident with our students. They don't let anything get them down, and they're always striving to be the best they can be.
My students embody everything I wish I was when I was at that age.
They don't take anything for granted, and they always do the best with what they have. As a teacher, a mentor, and an instructor, I want to give them all of the tools they need to be successful and go as far as they can in this world. They want to make a difference, and I know they will.
My Project
Our school building was built almost 100 years ago in 1926 and it has served the community in multiple ways throughout that time. Unfortunately though, due to its age, our classrooms lacks a modern HVAC filtration system. Although not ideal, this hasn't proved to be too much of an issue in the past other than the occasional leaks and sporadic jumps in humidity/temperature. However, since the advancement of the coronavirus, the old system has a lot of people worried: teachers, staff, and students alike.
Our classrooms here are more than simply a room to come and learn in.
The classroom is a safe environment for students where all voices and ideas are welcome and encouraged. It is hard to promote this climate without proper filtration as many fear infection from the viral infection that has taken the world by storm. Although an air purifier is not 100% effective concerning air purification, it does add peace of mind to all those around it. Help me give that to my students this year as we navigate the new learning environment we currently find ourselves in.
