Help me give my students digital nonfiction resources and white boards! Teacher access to an iPad will help me plan lessons that support the technology that students are using!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a dynamic kindergarten group, who are the pioneers for our virtual academy. The children demonstrate initiative and enjoy interactive lessons to enhance their learning. Each day, each child tries their best, which is all that I ask! I teach students from various backgrounds which a range of abilities including students with English as a Second Language and Special Needs!
My Project
Despite remote learning, my students love to hear teacher read alouds! They are engaged and attentive! I plan my read alouds along with comprehension skills, content related, and a great read aloud to enrich vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and a love of reading! They also enjoy listening to nonfiction stories about science, culture, and social studies.
Teacher read alouds will help my students increase their vocabulary, love for reading, and comprehension of text, as well as, increase their background knowledge around nonfiction text.
Use of whiteboards for all subjects and to encourage all student participation and engagement. My students love to participate using a whiteboard but not all students have them! While there are electronic whiteboards, handheld whiteboards encourage fine motor development! We use them to write sight words, solve math problems, and write basic sentences!
All students benefit from tangible materials, especially our early learners. Primary journals will help my students develop critical writing skills to master Kindergarten standards and most importantly, fall in love with the art of sharing their story!
All of these resources will help my students to cultivate a love for learning despite being in a remote setting. Also many of my students access content from an iPad. With a teacher iPad, I could help troubleshoot issues and demonstrate how to access content via iPad because I too would have one. In addition, use of a iPad would help gain knowledge of content via assessments because I could display the test prompt of the screen to gather data.
