My students need math resources like place value games, counting and writing stamps, counting chips, and story problem cards to help master the rigors of Common Core.
I am fortunate to work with a diverse population of students from all over the world.
We learn and celebrate cultures, languages and customs on a daily basis.
These All-Day K students are highly motivated and love coming to school! More than 50% of my students have a native language other than English. Learning to communicate mathematically will become easier after practice with these exciting new tools.
My Project
With the new Common Core Standards, we need resources to fill in the gaps in areas like place value, ten frames, higher level counting, and story problems. In addition, our highly capable students need challenges like money tools, base ten, and puzzle cards. Students will be able to practice with these new center activities, demonstrate their understanding by stamping sets and numbers, use the chips to show various arrangements, then record their work in journals using stamping and writing markers. With the ink we will be able to make additional reusable activities and math journal prompts.
Math teams is one of our favorite times with differentiated activities for unique needs.
With these new materials our two classes will be able to address a wide range of needs and provide additional challenges so that Everyone Counts in Kindergarten.
