My Students

I teach 7th grade junior high students with so much potential and possibilities ahead of them! Many of my students come from lower-income situations and work hard for everything they have. They demonstrate excitement and enthusiasm to learn and discover new things about science and the world around them. These students have so many things going on in their lives, and it is a privilege to be part of their educational journey. Approximately half of our students are bilingual, with about one quarter being ESL learners.

Our students are creative, curious and excited about Science!

In our classes, we emphasize hands-on labs and project-based learning to allow the students to explore concepts and connect science topics to the real world.

My Project

Many students have fallen behind with at home learning due to COVID-19 because of circumstances at home. Providing leveled inquiries is made possible with the use of headphones. Multi-language learners can have words read to them or translated if needed. Sound could be used to enhance learning with digital labs using headphones. Accelerated students will have additional instruction available to them so they do not disengage. The pandemic has created a loss of confidence in many students. Headphones will be a tool to help them be successful and encourage a growth mindset. These headphones will also be available to the 8th grade team at my school.
