I have the wonderful opportunity to work with terrific students and staff at a high school. I work with students doing interventions and re-teaching lessons so that students may get a full understanding in a smaller setting. When time allows I help my students with job application skills as well. Our school district serves an amazingly diverse population of students who come from a variety of circumstances. We serve a population of students who a majority (85%) qualify for the free lunch program due to lack of income.
Our school serves students 9-12th grades who want to be here in school because it's a safe space to be.
Together we strive for greatness through working for a common goal of success. As Will Smith says "Greatness exists in all of us.” While some of my students have challenging circumstances I encourage them to set goals for themselves and be accountable. Many of the goals my students hold most important are getting a job and stability.
My Project
Our high school cheerleading team is comprised of a great group of young ladies who are excited to learn and grow through teamwork and dedication. Many of them are new to the team this year and we want to give them the best experience possible to succeed. Cheerleading is a great way to build leadership and teamwork skills!
As a new coach working with a young team, I am seeking funds to provide my students with some needs for our season.
Our head coach is not only a cheerleading coach but also certified to teach tumbling to our cheerleaders. Providing our cheerleaders with new opportunities to help them grow in skills and self-esteem!
In addition to the tumble tracks, we could really use some water bottles and disposal masks. Thank you for supporting our need for new supplies through Donors Choose!
