Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school every day with a desire to learn, an element of excitement, and a curiosity of what will happen in class that day. We spend time in class helping everyone feel included and prepared to learn.
I teach at a Title I elementary school in the Bay Area, and over 80% of our students receive free and reduced price meal plans.
Most students do not have access to school supplies and technology is considered an absolute luxury; however, my students are still optimistic about the day! They are eager to give it their all every day and it's my job to help them achieve as much as possible in and out of the classroom. My goal is for them to get what they need from our classroom environment.
My Project
After reaching the midway point in the school year, my students are in need of some updates and replenishment of their everyday supplies. The crayons have long been broken and put into large bins, pencils have bite marks, erasers are mysteriously missing, and dry erase markers are merely dry. Students are ready for some new items to finish the school year with useful tools and working glue sticks. With some fresh new items in our classroom we will be able to continue all of the hard work we have been doing all year. Your contribution will help us to get these badly needed supplies for the remaining part of our school year!
