Help me give my students the resources they need to succeed. Paper to write on, markers to write with, and some erasers, because great problem solvers always need to fix mistakes.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a public elementary school in Illinois where 100% of our students come from low income households. All my students are excited about learning, from the moment they walk in the door, until the moment they put their homework in their backpack in the afternoon. We take advantage of many different learning styles throughout the day to keep all students engaged.
My class of 18 students has a broad range in learning levels and preferences, so students are always working at their own individual level.
My Project
Many people are surprised to find that every day supplies like paper and erasers are not supplied by the school. We use a wide variety of learning styles in our classroom, which requires a variety of supplies.
Each student has works on their own individual level, which, as you can imagine, requires multiple versions of every assignment.
This means we go through a lot of things like index cards, for weekly sight words, paper, for printing differentiated math work and reading stories, dry erase markers, for solving quick math work, and laminating sheets, to protect our manipulative pieces for centers and group work, so it can be used for years to come.
