Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These 2nd Grade students thrive and hunger for the knowledge gained from literature. One of the best parts of our day as a class is when we read stories together to learn and have fun as we immerse ourselves into stories. Many of these families struggle from financial difficulties, resources, and daily needs.
Despite their challenges at home, these students come to school each day ready to learn how to become a better person, learner, and citizen.
They love to listen to read alouds, learn from peers, and overall be at school.Their hearts are big and keep on growing each day!
My Project
We need lots of stuff as teachers. These items include the daily things that get students to learn. They go through these materials quickly.
They need sharpeners, colored pencil sharpeners, dry erase board eraser, books, and exposure to poetry books.
Through the year they will interact with these materials daily. I am very excited to expose them to poetry through a variety of books. This past year during our poetry unit I felt as if I was letting them down due to my lack of resources. Next year hopefully my students will be excited to learn and read about a variety of texts including poetry!
