I am a looping teacher that rotates yearly from Kindergarten to First Grade. Our school is considered a Title 1 school with over 50% of our students on free and reduced lunches.

This year is the first year for our school to be open and with the cost of opening a new school, classroom manipulatives are at a minimum.

The items I am requesting are basic math manipulatives that will allow children to physically touch items, sort items, and practice basic math skills (adding, subtracting, and counting). The items being requested include an entire counting and sorting lab that consist of many unique items for children to count, sort and verbally describe the characteristics of each item. I have also requested a literature based sorting kit that walks a child through the reasoning of why and how items are sorted. The other manipulatives requested will further develop sorting and counting skills.

With receiving the Everyday Math grant you will make it possible for my students to see the importance of math skills in everyday life.
