My Students
My students come from families of low socioeconomic status. My school is 100% free breakfast and lunch, as well as supper for our after-school students. We also have a pantry that supplies food to our most needy families. We provide for our students before, during, and after school and help families meet their basic needs.
Despite the many challenges they face, my students work hard at school every day.
They come ready and eager to learn. They get excited when they master something new. They have incredible potential to do great.
My Project
My students need school supplies to use every single day of school. Everything from pencils and crayons to whiteboards and clipboards. These are things that we use on a regular basis but many students and their families can not afford to buy them. As a Title l school, most of our students come from low-income families.
When these families can barely afford food, clothing, and other basic necessities, school supplies are simply not a priority for them.
By donating to my project, you will be helping disadvantaged students to get necessary school supplies so that they can focus on what they really need: learning!
We need LOTS of pencils, erasers, and crayons (small children tend to lose these very often). We need binder pockets to keep it all in. We need composition books for journal writing so my students can write every day, practice makes perfect! We need clipboards so that my students can work around the classroom and not be stuck at their desks all day. We need lined and blank dry erase boards, as well as dry, erase markers so students can engage in whole group learning in a fun and easy way. We need art supplies such as tempera paint, brushes, cups, art paper, and smocks for various projects throughout the year during holidays like Memorial Day coming up! These art projects make learning fun and memorable but the supplies are expensive. We need a storage center and hooks for these materials.
