Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students need flexible seating options to maximize student achievement in the classroom. I have an energetic group of kindergarteners who would benefit from having the opportunity to move around the room.
Our school population consists of more than 350 students.
More than half are from low income families who receive free or reduced lunch. Despite the increase in poverty level in our community, our devoted students attend school on a daily basis and work diligently and rigorously to succeed.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to make choices that affect how they learn. My students are 4, 5, an 6 year olds who need the opportunity to move, wiggle, and bounce throughout the day. Durning independent times, they can choose somewhere to go in the classroom that makes them comfortable. This increases their motivation for learning. It gives them responsibility and control of their own learning.
The items I have chosen will help offer more options for my students in the classroom.
The wobble stools will allow my wigglers to concentrate, and the bean bag chairs will give them a place to sit that is comfortable and cozy. Flexible seating will positively affect my students' ability to focus and will create a fun, relaxed environment to facilitate learning.
