The students at our K-8th grade charter school here in Western North Carolina come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing makes them stand out: our sense of community. Whether it is working together at school, helping and inspiring each other, cheering each other on, or doing projects that give back to our school, our community, and our environment, our students really shine.
Every day with our students, I am inspired by their enthusiasm and excitement for learning, as well as their good citizenship.
The biggest privilege I have is working with a group of students that make my day great, and get me excited about what we're learning together!
My Project
Our budding STEM program is growing by leaps and bounds. To enhance the middle school elective experience, I want to use robots to combine the engineering of creating the bot with the technology and math skills of coding. By completing challenges with the robots, my students will be utilizing hands-on learning, while developing critical thinking skills.
Working with robots allows students to guide their own learning through inquiry.
Robots spark creativity, while building 21st century skills and inspiring career possibilities.
Robot kits will make our middle school STEM program more robust and engaging. We can't wait to do the robot!
