Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are gifted first, second, third and fourth graders in a low socio-economic area of North Texas. Our gifted program serves five elementary schools. These students come from varied backgrounds and cultures. They are talented, imaginative, and creative children; however, they all have one thing in common--they love to learn.
Some are talented young artists, others are future novelists, one of them may someday lead our country.
All of them will definitely need 21st century skills when they leave public schooling and enter into the "real world."
My Project
We were very fortunate to receive whiteboard tables for our classroom this past year. The students love these tables! They are great for students to work their math, share ideas, brainstorm and use for classroom discussion questions.
These tables and markers allow my students to collaborate in ways they were not able to before.
However, we need to have the supplies to use with the tables! We are asking for markers, erasers and cleaning wipes to work and maintain our wonderful tables. Having these supplies allows the students to work effectively, each with their own color of marker and eraser. The wipes allow us to keep the tables clean and have even helped with keeping illness down in our classroom because they are wiped and cleaned each day.
Thank you for considering our project and for your support of public educaiton.
