Help me give my students books to supply their insatiable hunger to define their reading lives in Kindergarten and beyond!

Do you remember getting hooked on a series of books as a child? Think of the anticipation and excitement you felt waiting for and then finally reading the prized next installment in your favorite series. My students share that excitement and joy of waiting for and then finally devouring the newest books in their favorite series. My students are inquisitive, voracious readers who are craving to discover the newest adventures in their favorite book series.
My students are book-loving, avid readers, and enthusiastic learners.
Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As early readers, books are so important to my students and are truly valued. I am a Kindergarten Teacher at a K-5 elementary school in an suburban area. Our classroom library is an essential resource for my students. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on classroom library to check out high-quality books. Each day students inquire when the newest books by their favorite authors will be added to the library and if they can be first to check out these books. There is a buzz about books and an excitement for reading in our class.
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is the heartbeat of our room. Every book that is placed in our library is treated with love and care and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading and this project will only help enrich their experiences.
“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
