First grade is a fun place to be. Our students keep us laughing and learning. A day in the life of a first grader, at our school, includes silliness, curious questions, brilliant ideas, dance parties, listening to our favorite authors and hard work. They enjoy spending time outside, learning through play and fostering friendships that will carry them through their educational career at our K-8 school. Hands-on learning and integrating technology into their skill building and projects excites them as learners.
Our energetic group of students enjoys learning using hands on, whole group methods.
They are movers and shakers and enjoy a variety of work areas, tools, dividers, seating choices and movable work surfaces. These tools help increase their focus, provides them with movement as they work and helps them feel accomplished and successful.
My Project
In first grade it is important for each student to have their own defined space. When sitting on the rug, first graders often struggle staying in their spot. When they are not in their own spot their learning and the learning of their peers is interrupted.
Our First Grade model includes coming together as a community to learn.
With the purchase of this rug, students would be able to have their own space to learn in. This would increase the focus of our first grade students and allow students to be more successful during whole group instruction.
With our students nestled in their comfy square on the rugs, they will be participating in interactive literacy lessons, hearing their favorite stories or participating in a discussion with their peers about our latest science experience.
